Northern Focus Counselling

What: Northern Focus Counselling provides counselling and psychological services for people across the Yukon—virtually, in Whitehorse, and through community-based outreach. If you’re ready, we’ll help you get connected with the right clinician. We look forward to working with you.

We started Northern Focus Counselling to meet the realities of life in the Yukon: remote geography, small communities, layered stressors, and a strong need for care that’s both clinically solid and culturally respectful. Over time, we’ve grown into a team of counsellors and psychologists who support children, youth, adults, couples, and families—virtually, in Whitehorse, and through community-based outreach across the territory.

Poplar & Pine Creative Therapy

What: Provides Adult Councling, Couples Therapy, Clinical Supervision and Art Therapy. As a Counsellor and Art Therapist in the Yukon, I work with you through a range of challenges including:

  • anxiety & stress

  • depression

  • family & parenting issues

  • relationship issues

  • self-identity

  • distressing events

  • communication issues

  • sexual identity

  • grief & loss

  • creativity & self-expression

My practice is located on a treed property about 15 minutes outside of city limits on the North Klondike Highway (Mayo Road). The decision to practice from this location was intentional, so you can take a break from life and be closer to nature. You may also appreciate accessing counselling outside of the conventional office environment in a location that is more private.

In the late Spring to early Fall months, if appropriate and you are comfortable, we may go into nature and engage in art making with items from nature. Or, you have the option to enjoy the outdoors and have your session outside.

After or before sessions, you can extend your time away from your busy life by going to the Yukon Research Forest, or by turning onto the Hot Springs Road to visit some of the established amenities and attractions.
