9-8-8 suicide crisis helpline

What: Not Yukon based but important enought to include. No matter the challenges you're facing, you're not alone. The responders at 9-8-8 are available to support you if you're in emotional distress.

Phone or text 9-8-8 if you:

  • are trying to hurt yourself;

  • are having thoughts of hurting yourself;

  • are having thoughts of ending your life;

  • have thought about the steps you're going to take to end your life;

  • have made a plan to end your life;

  • feel a loss of hope for the future; or

  • are experiencing emotional pain that feels hard to bear.

Friendly Calls Program

What: The Friendly Calls program matches people over the age of 18 with trained Red Cross  personnel who connect with them regularly to check in, provide emotional support, encourage healthy coping strategies, and suggest well-being resources and community connections to other existing services.

It’s not just about making a phone call — it’s about forming connections. The Friendly Calls program is part of our bigger commitment to care for the overall well-being of people who live in Canada by creating and fostering stronger, more connected communities together.

Hope for Wellness Helpline

What: The Hope for Wellness Helpline is available to all Indigenous people across Canada. Experienced and culturally competent counsellors are reachable by telephone and online ‘chat’ 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Reach Out Support Line

What: The Reach Out Support Line is a confidential, anonymous non-judgmental and free support line run by the Canadian Mental Health Association, Yukon Division. The Reach Out Support Line operates with volunteers trained to listen and provide support that assists callers to find options and make a plan to move forward, no matter how big or small the issue.

The Reach Out Support Line operates 24 hours, seven (7) days a week, and all holidays and is available via call or text.

The Child, Youth and Family Therapeutics Team- YG

What: The Child, Youth and Family Therapeutics Team (CYFTT) provides a range of counselling and support services. We help school-aged children, youth and families in the Yukon. CYFTT services are free of charge.


We offer 6 services:

  • Rapid access counselling

  • Clinical counselling

  • Clinical outreach counselling

  • Groups

  • Child and youth outreach groups

  • Youth Outreach Nurse Clinic


Referrals can come from:

  • schools;

  • medical offices; and

  • other community organizations.


Self-referrals are welcome as well. In certain cases, youth may consent to services without their caregiver's approval or knowledge.
